Celebrating the Year of the Horse With Johnnie Walker Blue Label

The pioneering blended scotch brand has tapped Robert Wun for a limited edition version of its vaunted whisky.

Johnnie Walker has always walked alone. The blended Scotch whisky brand pioneered the category’s premiumization in modern times, proving that single malts aren’t always the most singular whiskies. Now, as the Chinese calendar turns onto the Year of the Horse, Johnnie has found a steed to match his speed, with the auspicious zodiac sign symbolizing independence and adventurousness joining his journey. To commemorate the Lunar New Year, Johnnie Walker’s vaunted Blue Label whisky is getting a yet more special spin thanks to a collaboration with Hong Kong-born fashion designer Robert Wun, who has designed limited-edition packaging for the occasion.

Featuring a galloping horse, the design represents Wun’s trailblazing approach to fashion that made him the first person from Hong Kong to be included in Paris’s haute couture calendar. “Pushing boundaries is integral to storytelling, and that’s how I approach my work: How can I go further? How can I bring magic to the collaboration? Where will the chemistry take us?” Wun asks. “For the Year of the Horse, this connection felt especially meaningful—the horse charges forward, symbolizing optimism and a relentless drive to push boundaries.”

Not to be outdone, the whisky in the bottle is just as singular as Wun’s design. Blue Label is a blend of some of Johnnie Walker’s rarest whiskies: just one in 10,000 casks makes the cut. With its flavours of honey, vanilla, and orchard fruit, there’s no better whisky than Johnnie Walker Blue Label to trot headlong into the Year of the Horse with.
